Best of the history: 205 international medals
Turkish athletics enjoyed greatest ever single-season in 2016. By the completion of the year, 2016 instantly became most successful one to Turkey with 205 international medals plus 10 podium at the club's competition. An local athletics expert unveiled an amazing stats to Turkish athletics which have produced best-ever competition chart of their 95-year long history. Since their inaugural international contest back in 1930 Balkan Athletics, every single year accumulated by only international championships medals, not include the podiums on the international meets or matches. According to stats, Turkish athletics has no any other season they've got more medals than 2016 season, which was staged to 205 championships podium by Turkey represent athletes. The 205 medals came from 25 different athletics events with a wide range such as from Olympics to Balkan Youth Championships. NEARLY EVERY COMPETITION... Turkey have well represented on the international scene last year while entering 29 championships in total, five of them in world-wide level. Not only competing there, Turkish athletes grabbed at least one medal in 25 out of 29 championships. "The year of 2016 was just matched with our pre-season expectations, actually" TAF President Fatih Cintimar said, "Our technical team done excellent work through the year, our athletes also made this achievement possible with some committed performances. I would like to thank everybody for great season. I think it's fair to called it beginning of new era of Turkish athletics" he added joyously. By a comparison, previous best medal performance in Turkish athletics came in 2015, the local athletes collects 148 medals on international scenes. THEY HAVE TEAM SPIRIT TOO Apart from individual medals, Turkish clubs also celebrated in style a historic year. In every ECCC event, Turkish teams crowned as continental champions. In cross-country, Üsküdar Belediyesi (senior women), Bursa BŞB (junior women) and Darica Belediyesi (junioe men) took the trophy. On the track ENKA men's team clinched first-ever Turkish victory at prestigious European Champions Clubs Cup in Mersin.
