TAF Library opened by EA President Hansen
The Turkish Athletics Library – just the second sports-specific library in the country after The National Olympic Committee Library – was opened in Istanbul on Friday by European Athletics President Svein-Arne Hansen and Turkish Athletics Federation President Fatih Çintimar. Also present at the inauguration and ceremonial ribbon cutting at the library, which is situated in the Turkish Athletics Federation building, was European Athletics CEO Christian Milz. "I would like to thank very much those who have contributed this wonderful library to the sport of athletics,” said President Hansen. The library currently contains around 1300 volumes, including athletics annuals, periodicals, TAF Publications, Turkish-language source material, technical books, anti-doping and sports medicine literature, Olympic and educational books, competition booklets and statistical lists. European Athletics and Turkey’s European Athletics Council member Salih Münir Yaraş have been among the principal donors. TAF President Çintimar added: “It is pleasure for us to have our special guest President Hansen coming here for the Istanbul Indoor Cup meeting as well as to launch TAF Library. Our aim is for this [library] to become one of the greatest sports information centres in Turkey.” Library experts are also working on digitalising the collection to make it available online. >>> Text: EA Website
